In the morning of January 25th, 2024, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training (DOET) together with the Ho Chi Minh City Digital Transformation Consulting and Support Center (DXCenter) visited Thanh An Elementary School (Thanh An Commune, Can Gio District). There, the delegates handed over the digital classroom worth 580,000,000 VNĐ to the school.
The digital classroom handover ceremony took place under the witness of Mr. Nguyen Ho Hai – Permanent Deputy Secretary of Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee; Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu – Director of Ho Chi Minh City DOET; Mr. Phan Phuong Tung – Director of DXCenter and other delegates from Can Gio District People’s Committee and Can Gio District DOET.
In the 2022 – 2023 school year, for the first time, Ho Chi Minh City DOET and DXCenter have coordinated to deploy virtual classes in two subjects: Informatics and English, in order to solve the shortage of teachers when implementing the 2018 General Education Program. The digital classroom is one of the solutions that Ho Chi Minh City government applies digital technology in teaching and learning, which helps to bring excitement to students during the learning process.
At the handover ceremony, Mr. Phan Phuong Tung stated that the digital classrooms have played a crucial role in addressing the shortage of teachers, promoting equity in education while still ensuring quality in lecture content and teaching methods. Additionally, the digital classrooms have provided opportunites for students in remote areas as Thanh An Commune (Can Gio District) to learn from core teachers of the Ho Chi Minh City DOET.
Also, during the ceremony, Mr. Tran Huu Dung – the Chairman of QTSC, presented scholarships of 20,000,000 VNĐ to underprivileged students who have overcome difficulties of Thanh An Elementary School (Can Gio District).
In 2024, the Ho Chi Minh City DOET will continue to collaborate with DXCenter to expand the implementation of digital classrooms. This includes the addtion of specialized subjects such as Fine Arts and Music which leads to an increase in number of participating teachers, reaching out to more schools and students. The aim of this project is to ensure that none of any student is left behind in education.
